The role of the Procurement Category Manager – Program Management is responsible for leading cross-functional project teams across Ralcorp with the primary objective of ensuring achievement of the defined cost, and delivery targets for all Indirect sourcing projects. The position will consist of developing policies, processes, procedures and applications that enable an organization to meet its productivity and sourcing goals. The position will have oversight for all indirect sourcing projects. This role will require a high level of influencing, teamwork and customer focus in order to ensure service level requirements are met for the corporation and the Corporate functions. This role will build strategic relationships with corporate functions and the plants, including regular business reviews with Senior Level Management to ensure requirements are being met. This role must have expertise in the area of Project Management as well as general procurement knowledge. Functional areas of focus would be assisting the end-to-end sourcing process, including defining requirements, negotiations, implementation, and category management.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage project portfolio for all indirect categories through all phases including implementation and validation

Apply project management, general management and technical skills, as well as team management, negotiation, financial and business acumen, to meet project objectives and to meet stakeholder expectations.

Work with category and sourcing managers to define projects, develop charters, and select team members. Track progress according to time constraints and report on the progress of sourcing projects.

Lead Steering Team to a clear definition of project scope, deliverables, budget, resource requirements, timeline and milestones.

Develop and execute communication, collaboration and change management plan

Lead team to a clear definition of project scope, budget, resources and time line and ensure team members assist accordingly to achieve delivery goals

Risk Mitigation: evaluation of technical and business risks using data based analysis and developing sound risk mitigation alternatives. Lead risk management process throughout life of project

Supervise workflow of project managers within the Indirect Procurement department.

Ability to manage relationships effectively with all levels within work environment & supplier organizations

Determine where exception processing is taking place and work with the Category Owners and Functional Teams to determine how to proactively address expectations/gaps

Drive standardization across all divisions (e.g. charters, communication plans, team development, stage gate reviews)

Lead Network Teams in Strategic Sourcing and Category Management activities to continuously enhance the service which is provided to the business and gain tangible measurable benefits.

Facilitate network teams to work together on creating solutions to form win-win partnerships

Support team members to see how their ideas can be combined in order to create value for the entire organization

Job Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a BS/BA in Finance, Supply Chain, or related discipline. MBA preferred. PMI/PMP certification preferred

5 – 7 years’ experience in sourcing, purchasing, materials management, manufacturing, or relevant technical/analytical discipline

Project management experience - proven track record of planning, leading and successfully executing on significant strategic initiatives in a complex environment

Strong organizational and project management experience including the ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels of the organization

Working knowledge and experience with strategic sourcing processes a plus

Effective team building skills

Demonstrated leadership in communications and project management skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, with a strong influencing and persuasive talents

Effective interpersonal skills

Analytical and problem-solving abilities

Self motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Strong customer-service orientation
