Description

The role of

Product Director

is a critical position in enabling the business to reach the established goals. The position focuses on leading the execution of agreed action plans with our partners, while maintaining the service levels to our internal customers within Allied. The PD is a multi-disciplined position combining the skills of process manager, project manager, and technology/supplier merchandiser. This role will be working together with all of Electrocomponents to build one global offer for our customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary focus of the role is to coordinate all efforts for the A&C supplier segment by maintain our relationships with premier suppliers in the market and continuing to exceed company growth sales and margin metrics.

Develop category strategies for A&C ensuring robust execution plans are in place and delivering to plan.

Responsible for successfully developing and managing a recognized ‘best in class’ product portfolio which serves the needs of USA R&D and the Small-to Medium OEM business sector. (

Develop and manage a product strategy that provides an attractive ROI while delivering competitive advantage for the business’s customer facing resources. This should be done by leveraging/building Allied’s technical authority, marketing tools, supplier preference and customer perception against market and competitor price position. (

Stratify the technology team’s supplier base and develop action plans in conjunction with Marketing and Sales channels to fully exploit the strategic manufacturers. From these action plans sales goals should be set and published, and reviewed and updated with management on a monthly basis (

Develop and lead teams capable of acquiring product and technology information for use in off-line and on-line customer marketing (

Lead teams in research to help company stay abreast of technology and product trends and market landscape (

Develop senior management relationships with the strategic and tactical suppliers that offer Allied the opportunity for preference within the supplier’s distribution network. (

Education and/or Experience

Must have a four year degree in Business or related field. Must have 5-7 years of electronic distribution or supplier experience. Must have previous supervisory experience of team members. Preferred product background in Automation and Control suppliers with product and market knowledge.

Computer Skills

Intermediate level computer skills are needed. Creating presentations for monthly or quarterly reviews with basic spreadsheets to review financial results is needed.

Can serve as a team leader or work planning coordinator. May train others. Work requires planning and managing priorities and resources of a work unit to accomplish goals defined by broader strategic planning, or require planning and management small projects on an ongoing basis
