Description

Function

The Product Manager will be focused on proactive management, development and execution of supplier/product action plans. This position will serve as the liaison between Allied and the suppliers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Manage tactical product activities for specific suppliers’ lines or specific commodity(s).

Develop and maintain product forecasts and budgets.

Develop, implement, and monitor sales and inventory mix vs. published goals & budgets.

Support inventory control in purchasing decisions.

Maintain price and profit margins in line with agreed goals and benchmarking.

Develop inventory, sales, pricing strategies that support product life cycle management requirements.

Drive new product introductions with effective planning and collaboration.

Lead and participate in process improvement activities.

Develop and maintain professional working relationships with:
Suppliers

Sales personnel

Warehouse and logistic staff

Corporate support staff – accounting, business analysts, etc

Critique the quality, depth, and relative position of the product offer in relations to the competition and alter accordingly to meet published/agreed position.

Strive to collaborate and continually seek leverage from the technology portfolio.

Minimize product overlap without justification.

Understand the competition’s strengths and weakness in relations to product.

Place first call responsiveness at the top of daily activities.

Continually strive to improve Allied’s terms with suppliers.

Look for opportunities to buy better and recommend to PD.

Ensure data held in system is relevant and accurate at all time.

Education

Four year degree in business or marketing or related desired, (knowledge and experience may compensate for lack of degree).
