As a Product Marketer, you will be responsible for assisting Product Directors with promotion activities for a product line. In-depth knowledge of the capital markets, investment products and the financial services industry are necessary for the messaging and positioning of products. You will conceive and develop innovative promotion programs and communication materials that will drive demand. Attention to detail and an eye for quality, along with the ability to grasp and translate technical features of investment strategies into benefits are crucial. In your role as a Product Marketer, you will have a strong and developing sense of client needs – how they buy and their buying criteria – and translate that knowledge to sales channel support.
Messaging/Branding: Develop, write and communicate product positioning and core messaging for the fixed income product line that differentiates the products, highlights product strengths and values for the market and provides technical product focus for promotion initiatives, media and efforts. Facilitate process to name new products, including evaluation of competitive naming conventions, seek and incorporate investment and sales input, develop recommendation, and implement communication.
Technical Content: Create and refine product technical content for websites and marketing collateral, such as data sheets, whitepapers, FAQs, feature-benefit sheets, Blogs, regular reports and standardized sales product presentations.
Quality Control: Integrate messaging and ensure its consistency across all marketing media through routine quality control processes – including quarterly reviews of content touch points – and harmonizing messages with other Product Marketers and corporate brand objectives.
Sales Enablement: Communicate the value proposition and strengths of the products to the sales teams and develop the sales tools that support the selling process.
Demand Generation: Develop focus, messaging and targeting for outbound product programs while working with the distribution sales channel marketers to drive demand for the products.
Competition: Assist the Product Directors in competitive analysis and provide sales channels insights and techniques to competitively position our products.
3-5 years of experience that combines marketing, sales and communications, preferably with an investment management/asset management firm.
Demonstrated knowledge of investment theory and channel distribution practices/needs.
Experience managing creative or agency resources (internal and external).
Very strong written communication, technical writing and presentation skills.
Excellent task management skills to interact with other staff such as Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Compliance, and function in cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to confidently interact with and influence at multiple levels of the firm.
Self-motivated and ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
Aptitude for learning about investments and capital markets.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, economics or finance.
Experience with fixed income product marketing
Experience working in a sales driven, multi-channel distribution environment
While we prefer the position be in Mountain View, CA, we will consider having the position located in our home office in Kansas City, MO. There will be moderate to significant travel if the position is based in Kansas City and minimal travel if the position is based in Mountain View.
