The Production Manager- Manufactured Goods will organize, manage and supervise the manufacturing and distribution of products which meet all quality and product design specifications while delivering balanced business results in safety, people, quality, service, speed and cost key performance indicators (KPI’s).

Responsibilities:
Regulatory Requirements - Meet OSHA safety standards. Maintain a minimum sanitation score of 800 (excellent). Meet or exceed all customer qualification inspections and requirements. Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations.

Production Planning - Forecast production requirements daily, weekly and monthly. Schedule production and labor to meet sales requirements. Facilitate equipment downtime for maintenance activities. Ensure there are no lost accounts based on quality. Identify and explain production variance and develop action plans to improve.

Process Improvement - Develop and implement action plans to improve department KPI’s in safety, people, quality, service, speed and cost, including capital approval of engineered solutions. Seek and utilize employee input to improve procedures and processes. Manage implementation of technical process innovations. Provide on-the-floor troubleshooting and coaching skills. Adapt processes to suit different raw materials.

Budgeting & Cost Control - Formulate and execute yearly production budget for department. Identify and justify capital projects to help control costs. Operate within budgetary guidelines on an ongoing basis. Identify potential machine failures and coordinate preventive maintenance.

Quality Control - Maintain records as required by QC Department. Maintain production logs and related files/paperwork. Uphold all quality control and HAACP standards. Maintain clean work area per sanitation standards. Assure that all finished product is properly labeled and is marked with an accurate and legible lot code. Contact suppliers regarding food safety/quality issues. Participate in HACCP program as necessary.

Purchasing/Material Resource Planning - Maintain minimum inventories of raw materials and packaging materials to meet production needs. Maintain vendor relationships to ensure timely deliveries.

Safety - Coordinate on the job training of each individual. Enforce compliance with company Safety and Sanitation policies. Identify and respond to potential safety hazards. Reduce accident incident rate to meet department / plant standards.

Organizational Capability - Manage and coach production team to troubleshoot daily operational issues and lead root cause analysis efforts. Organize and facilitate daily team meetings to improve department KPI’s. Conduct presentations and training programs as needed. Engage and motivate team members to achieve department KPI goals.

Requirements:
Qualified candidates will possess a combination of the following skills and knowledge: Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering. Excellent computer skills. Three to five years’ experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing plant environment. Food Safety/HACCP training. Demonstrated people and leadership skills with track record of achieving positive business results the right way. Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation and team building skills. Ability to give/receive constructive feedback. Excellent organizational, analytical, prioritization and problem solving skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent PC skills in Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint. Biochemical process and / or food manufacturing experience. Process and/or product development experience. Budgeting and cost control experience.
