Associate's degree, bachelor's degree preferred in business or related.
Three to Five years experience in similar role.

External Description:
Responsibility for Planning, Purchasing, and Scheduling of assigned product lines. Establish, maintain and coordinate data base information for both purchased and manufactured items. Plan, monitor and control inventory levels to maximize inventory investment. Maintain valid Production plans to ensure targeted fill rates and customer service levels are achieved. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Partner with Logistics to manage Ames Domestic Supply Chain inventory activities.

System maintenance, integrity as it relates to maintaining vendor lead times, order quantity, inventory levels, product routing, and bill of materials (BOM) for assigned product lines.

Customer Service contact for assigned product lines.

Ensure material availability to provide valid schedules to meet Customer on Time Performance objectives.

Implement continuous improvement for purchasing/planning and inventory control processes.

Reviews activities related to inventory accuracy as needed.

Continuous review of slow moving/excess inventories maximizing benefits with least inventory investment cost.

Ensure conformance to quality assurance standards through involvement with material review board, specifically Supplier Corrective Action Report (SCAR) management, certification audit, and Engineering Change Notices (ECN) management.

Ensure inventory availability by performing forecast management, network routing, flag control for specials, assemble to order, standard products and ECN management.

Phone Support as required

Other duties and projects as required.

Knowledge of accepted business and accounting practices.

Ability to represent the company in a professional manner.
Ability to use basic business machines( telephone, personal computer, calculator, fax machine).

Ability to read and comprehend engineering prints.
General knowledge of manufacturing practices.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess knowledge and skills at the advanced level with MS office software. Also a general understanding of computer networks, and database management.

2 year college degree, certification, or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

This job may or may not have supervisory responsibilities.

The majority of the work done in this position is in an office setting. The temperature is comfortable. The noise level is moderate. Occasionally required to work in the plant, which requires the use of personal protective equipment ,(safety glasses, hearing protection). The noise level in the plant is loud and not temperature controlled. When travelling the employee may have to fly in an airplane or drive a car in order to perform vendor visits.
