Summary The Team Leader provides crew support in all plant area's under the direction of the Shift Superintendent to ensure value stream objectives are met on a shift to shift basis while improving human performance, food |
safety, human safety, environmental, and sanitation performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform SAFE observations. Monitor and coach employees on the importance of being personally responsible for their own safety behavior. Ensure that unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.
Assist crew members to implement and maintain standard work and prevent out of specification production. Along with the Shift Superintendent provide daily leadership for crew me members and provide coverage during Shift Superintendent absences. Assist Shift Superintendent in all aspects of operations management as directed including upgrade in the Shift Superintendent's absence.
Develop crew members by providing training and necessary resources. Develop training materials. Assist with new hire orientation, and required customer documentation. Assist the Shift Superintendent to ensure performance appraisals and progress reports are completed in a timely manner. Facilitate the communication between shifts and teams.
Educated team members in 5S principles, chemical usage, sanitation guidelines, food safety guidelines and GMP's. Responsible for monitoring verification of accurate line records including HACCP and routine/non routine sanitation check lists to ensure compliance.
Assist with maintaining accurate position descriptions and standard operating procedures. Monitor and audit 5S progress. Ensure accurate completion of Operations Reporting Records, and provide coaching and feedback when errors occur.
Demonstrate a daily commitment to the continuous improvement process by following Lean Manufacturing principles, and following the Basic Principles.
Must maintain the highest standards of ethics and integrity while embodying the tenets of "What We Stand For" and "The Basic Principles."
Must maintain the highest standards of data management by creating consistent, reliable data which will ensure accuracy and in turn, maximize the use of data and confidence in decision making.
Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and internal Company policies. Regularly complete behavior based safety observations. Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.
A trained designee will be appointed by management to cover for absences and vacancies
All employees are responsible for upholding the principles of SQF 2000.
All employees are responsible for immediately reporting any food safety, food quality or plant security issues to management for appropriate action.

Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED), or experiential learning this gives the incumbent the ability to successfully meet all listed requirements of this position. Demonstrated leadership skill and ability, effective interpersonal skills, training and facilitation skills, and intermediate operating knowledge of personal computers which includes experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
Ability to read and comprehend simple to complex instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to communicate effectively in writing. Ability to effectively present information verbally in one-on-one conversations and in large group (20+) situations. Ability to effectively facilitate meetings.
Ability to creatively apply experience and common sense to a variety of situations, process and people. These situations may include conflicts between employees, equipment malfunction, and variation in raw material and process conditions. Ability to determine how to make the most efficient use of crew members. Ability to decide when and how to take malfunctioning equipment down for repair.

The employee is also regularly in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, requiring hearing protection.
