Description: Due to high demand and interest from local schools, the Missouri River Educational Cooperative (MREC) is searching for an additional professional development/curriculum coordinator to help assist member districts with the development of curriculum and implementation of Educational Best Practices in accordance with their School Improvement Process. Position is 12 months; salary is dependent upon experience; benefits are per Bismarck Public Schools benefit package
Job Summary: Plans/coordinates/provides professional development and curriculum activities in cooperation with member schools’ improvement plans and acts as a specialist advisor to the building in their individual work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
o Standards Based Education process
- Coordinate efforts with school administration, professional development teams, and/or school staff to provide training which supports (1) student performance goals and (2) process and procedures of school improvement.
- Plan and provide professional development to support the process and procedures of each school’s improvement plans, including, but not limited to:
o Research-based instructional best practices
o Assessment strategies
o Data driven decision making
o Technology integration
o Curriculum Development
- Serve as a resource to buildings as they progress through the school improvement process.
- Facilitate and monitor the work of the school administration and/or school professional development team.
- Monitor building progress through the five-year school improvement cycle.
- Coordinate collaborative planning among elementary, middle level and high school improvement efforts.
- Coordinate district-wide school improvement projects.
- Lead necessary follow-up activities.
- Oversee annual actions of the strategic and operational plans that deal directly with school improvement and provide for year-end data substantiating progress toward those actions.
- Communicate with school stakeholders regularly and in various ways about school improvement, including curriculum and professional development activity progress.
- Gathering and/or development of professional development and curriculum resources.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: B.A. in Education, Masters and/or additional coursework in curriculum, instruction, and administration is preferred, but not required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid ND Teaching Certification or Ability to obtain valid ND Teaching Certification.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers, staff members, administration, and the general public.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists is necessary. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to programming; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, administrator, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication are all critical skills. Finally the employee needs the ability to perform duties with awareness of all ND State Century Code and MREC Governing Board policies. Also the ability to work without continued supervision and directions.
