The Program Coordinator – Credentials Evaluator is a full-time, classified position at North Seattle Community College (NSCC). The Credentials Evaluator will coordinate the evaluation of incoming credits, both domestic and international transcripts. Additionally, this position will determine student eligibility for graduation for all degrees and certificates as well as understand and maintain practices, policies and procedures for the courses and degrees within NSCC. The Credentials Evaluator will also assist with general admissions/registration/records functions. Given the financial challenges the State of Washington has been facing, employees currently in, or hired into, classified positions making $2500/month or more, represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) will take a one year 3% cut in salary effective July 1, 2012 through June 29, 2013. Rate posted above represents the 3% reduction.

Essential Functions:
Determine eligibility/accreditation of official transcripts submitted for evaluation.
Evaluate official transcripts for NSCC degrees, certificates.
Research, maintain & interpret current & former academic practices, policies and procedures for degrees or certificates, including Academic Actions and Exceptions to Policy.
Review and understand ICRC standards and State of Washington rules and regulations as they pertain to NSCC degrees and certificates.
Responsible for final evaluation and posting of NSCC academic degrees and certificates.
Maintain close communication with Seattle Community College campuses and other Washington State institutions concerning academic matters as related to degree requirements and critical academic issues.
Coordinate diploma printing and mailing to students.
Coordinate student mailing list and degree listing for commencement ceremony.
Act as liaison with NSCC faculty, staff and division deans concerning academic matters as related to degree requirements.
Attend campus meetings as necessary to establish and enhance campus connections.
Conduct campus wide training in the use of the degree audit system and any other process that relates to understanding/learning of academic programs or graduation.
Advise students, faculty, administrators, staff and public through written and electronic correspondence, phone and in-person contacts of the policies and procedures related to credentials evaluation and admissions/registration processes.
Support general Admissions/Registration/Records functions as needed.
Maintain and update college catalog resources and other related documents used in the evaluation of credentials to determine course equivalencies for other colleges' coursework.
Responsible for training staff on tasks related to credentials/graduation' and admissions/registration/records functions.
Other duties as assigned within or outside of a student services unit.

Required Education, Experience & Abilities:
High school graduation or equivalent AND a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a college setting, preferably community college OR equivalent education/experience.
Ability to accurately perform multiple tasks in a timely manner within a diverse environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of Student Management System (SMS) and other PC computer technologies including the use of the internet, Word, Excel and Access.
Demonstrated ability to research and investigate academic issues that relate to graduation, credit evaluation, admissions, and registration.
Evidence of ability to interpret detailed information and trouble-shoot and problem-solve academic and systems issues.
Evidence of ability to work pleasurably and independently within a multi-task environment.
Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with unit team members and all areas of the college.
Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of credentials, experience working with domestic and international transcripts, advising, admissions, registration experience in a college setting, preferably community college.
