The UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine seeks a highly qualified and motivated individual to become Program Director for a new Physician Assistant education program, being developed in cooperation with the U.S. Joint Special Operations Medical Training Center at Ft. Bragg. The Program Director will work with the Dean’s office and an Executive Board of Advisors to plan the program and prepare for initial program Provisional Accreditation by the ARC -PA, including the recruitment of other needed faculty. The initial accreditation site visit is scheduled for March 2015 and students will begin the program after that date. After accreditation, the Director will be responsible for the day to day implementation of the program, including student recruitment and admissions, faculty supervision, maintenance of accreditation, and continuous program evaluation and improvement efforts. Additional teaching and clinical practice responsibilities to be determined jointly with Associate Dean/Chair for Allied Health Sciences. Start date of July, 2013 or sooner if possible.

Educational Requirements

Qualifications will include: Current NCCPA Certification and/or PA licensure eligibility in North Carolina, Minimum of a Master’s Degree , with preference for a doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, DPH ), Minimum of three years of successful experience as a faculty member in an accredited Physician Assistant education program.

Qualifications and Experience

Preferences: Experience as a Program Director, experience with accreditation, and or evidence of increasing leadership responsibilities are desirable. Due to the focus of this program on students who have been Special Forces medics, a background that includes military experience is highly desirable. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of scholarship, creativity, collegiality, vision for the future of P.A. education.
