The Program Manager for Advanced Product Development (APD) delivers new technology development projects on-time while reducing cycle time and improving innovation and quality. Additionally this role:

Provides project management for 5-6 top APD projects.

Works with Product Management to develop concept and product proposals to establish program scope and objectives, including quality, cost and timing.

Leads cross-functional teams to establish and ensure:
Assures appropriate program planning to confirm that product development is consistent with established program objectives and company needs

Negotiate required resources from cross-functional leaders and interface with required functional disciplines/departments for program support

Interfaces with and negotiates desired program resources from cross-functional leaders

Conducts phase and gate reviews

Determines and manages all risk elements and maintains the overall responsibility for the success of the program

Creates project charters and schedules; chair regular project update meetings.

Keeps APD Director informed of progress and of resource shortages or technical challenges.

Owns and updates the APD New Technology Development process; continually update and improve the process to improve quality and accelerate project execution.

Creates and owns the APD technology transfer process based on NASA technology readiness levels tied to the New Technology and the New Product Development process.

Required Skills

Required Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution; advanced degree desired

Project Management certification preferred

10+ years of overall professional business experience, to include:

2+ years of project/program management experience

Demonstrated experience working with/through cross-functional teams

Demonstrated experience taking products through the full product lifecycle

Prior management of direct reports preferred
