Victor O. Schinnerer & Company (www.schinnerer.com) is America's oldest underwriting manager of professional liability and specialty insurance. The Program Manager underwrites business generated by Producers while servicing existing accounts and generating new business. Manages underwriting authority and/or program relationships, and manages underwriting and processing unit to comply with program and company standards.
Has the ability to underwrite large or complex new policies and renewals. Determines appropriate terms and conditions for coverage and rates for program profitability. Builds relationships with the broker distribution force. Negotiates quotes and ensures policies are issued as bound. Manages the Energy product line (Oil & Gas, pipeline, etc.).
Sets underwriting strategy and clarifies course of action to senior management.
Maintains production, loss ratio and servicing standards prescribed by underwriting authority contracts and corporate standards.
Reviews new and renewal submissions for guideline acceptability.
Underwrites, rates risks and communicates quotes to Producers, securing the best terms and conditions for accounts.
Responsible for production of new business and maintaining and servicing renewals.
Reviews policy for correct information and proper coverage.
Responsible for policy issuance, policy changes and endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements.
Must be familiar with state laws for the states in which business is written to ensure proper handling of surplus line taxes in a timely manner.
Responsible for training, coaching and development of underwriting staff.
Responsible for regular and ad hoc reports to Underwriting or program authorities and corporate staff.
Minimum 10 years comparable experience
College degree, preferable in insurance or business.
Professional designation required (CPCU, ARM, etc.)
License required and additional certifications helpful.
Strong analytical and judgment skills
Excellent problem solving ability.
In-depth technical expertise and high level of ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) for both administrative and technical matters.
