Minimum education and/or experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business or a closely related field and two (2) years computer programming experience. Experience developing reports with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Experience developing highly performing business applications in a multi-tier architecture. Experience with structured source control, preferably using Microsoft Team Foundation Server and Visual Source Safe. Knowledge of relational database design, stored procedure creation, and query building using TSQL Server is required. Some experience with HTML, DHTML, VB Script, Java Script, CSS and page layout. Or an equivalent combination of education and job-related experience, substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred education and/or experience:
Experience developing DTS/SSIS packages. A solid understanding of basic design/architecture principles. Experience using/administering Team Foundation Server. Experience using/programming with Microsoft SharePoint. Experience with Transact-SQL using Microsoft SQL Server 2008. Experience developing web-based applications using Visual Studio 2008/2010, using, ASP.net and C#.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have experience developing reports with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Must have some experience developing web-based applications using Visual Studio Team System, ASP.NET and C# in a source-safe environment. Must have experience with HTML, DHTML, VB Script, Java Script, CSS and page layout. Transact-SQL, MS SQL Server 2008. Must have some experience developing reports with Crystal Reports. Must have knowledge of Microsoft IIS 6. Knowledge of relational database design, stored procedure creation, and query building and SSIS using TSQL on SQL Server is required. Familiarity with structured source control using Microsoft Team Foundation Server and Visual Source Safe is beneficial. Must possess excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Knowledge of ASP.NET and SSIS would be beneficial but is not required.
NOTE: Degrees/credits must be from an academically accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education (CHEA).
Essential Job Tasks:
Follow industry practices of analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance/production support of custom applications software. This position interacts in a team setting with co-workers including other programmers, database administrator and business analysts. Develop, maintain and support the SQL 2008 database back-end of web-based applications using Microsoft technologies. Develop reports utilizing Crystal Reports and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and aid in ongoing conversion from Crystal Reports to SSRS. Develop and maintain MS SQL complex TSQL scripts, stored procedures, views, functions, SSIS packages and scheduled jobs. Test developed applications for accuracy, efficiency, and stability. Support deployment of application into production and maintain applications after release. Focus continually on developing business knowledge, product/feature expertise. Utilize source control to label, package, and deploy applications utilizing best practices procedures/techniques. Manage individual tasks and assist others to achieve common goals in a timely fashion. Coordinate with other team members to assist on a variety of other development needs and practices. Assist on customer support issues resolving any application issues and/or errors.
