Responsible for supervising the development of new systems, directing changes to existing systems and controlling the interfaces between the systems; initiates complex feasibility studies and makes recommendations of the action to be taken. Work is performed under general supervision and evaluated on overall results obtained. May supervise subordinate employees.
The major areas of responsibility include supporting the campus EHR system, SQL database support, HL7 interface development, hardware support, server operating system support, and backup/recovery functions. Must be able to communicate effectively with vendors, campus administration and EHR users, as well as possess the ability to design, develop, analyze, install, test, and implement specialized functions within the campus EHR system.
Troubleshoot end-user hardware/software. Assist in training campus EHR users.
Bachelor’s degree with coursework in computer science or other related area plus two (2) years full-time paid experience in job related area; OR a combination of related education and experience to equal six (6) years.
Knowledge of SQL database administration. Ability to assess and implement new technologies within IT and HIPPA security guidelines. Familiarity with modern programming languages and HL7 interface standards
