Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Ensures timely and efficient completion of systems
engineering design and analysis projects to support
customer and market objectives. Acts as project leader
with technical responsibility for requirements
management,
systems design solutions, and system validation projects
or
phases of major projects. Systems solutions must include
existing product utilization, cost optimization,
manufacturing initiatives, and life cycle
considerations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Develops project goals and objectives by reviewing
systems proposals and project plans and conferring with
customers, management, and product development teams.
Ensures projects meet schedule, cost results, and
technical
expectations through effective project leadership. May
have frequent customer interface to present project
status
and gain confidence in overall support of customer
programs.
2. Determines project specifications by studying system
design, customer program requirements (including
performance and data requirements), functional diagrams,
schematics and interface control documents; completing
technical studies; and preparing cost estimates.
Determines
project responsibilities by identifying project phases
and
elements and assigning staffing and resources.
3. Prepares project plans and related schedules by
studying customer and systems specifications;
calculating
time and cost/budget requirements; and sequencing
project
elements. Maintains project schedule by monitoring
project
progress, coordinating activities, and resolving
problems.
Prepares project status reports/milestones for review
with
customers and other teams.
4. Provides technical system information affecting long-
range plant and product engineering planning.
Communicates
with customers to identify new business opportunities,
present Parker systems capabilities, and clarify
customers'
technical requirements. May write technical proposals
for
customers by reviewing and interpreting system
requirements.
5. Leads studies to evaluate or determine feasibility of
new or modified equipment and related systems
considering
technical and economic factors, available resources,
time
constraints, and customer impact. Presents study results
and recommendations to division and branch staff and
customers.
6. Ensures system and lifecycle performance validation
for
projects is complete and adequate. Defines and documents
system descriptions and validation processes, including
required embedded traceability, necessary to achieve
acceptance. Develops predictive models that
satisfactorily
simulate and verify system performance.
7. Prepares or directs preparation of system layout,
detailed drawings, and schematics by coordinating with
engineering design, interpreting customer and functional
requirements, or by using engineering computer-aided
design
tools and following industry and/or military design
standards. Develops critical data and makes preliminary
system layouts and documentation necessary to present
system proposals to customers.
8. Maintains engineering project database by
establishing
engineering history files, project files, technical
data,
and related information to provide repository for
technical
project activities, current activities, and future
records.
9. Applies and may lead continuous improvement
initiatives
in system engineering or across other teams. Recommends
actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making
comparative analyses; proposes changes in methods and
procedures.
10. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by
attending educational workshops, reviewing technical
publications, benchmarking best practices, and/or
participating in professional associations.
11. Complies with Parker policies and aerospace industry
regulations. Consistently applies established
engineering
practices, standards, and documentation methods.
12. Represents company on overall system projects; acts
as
consultant significant customer issues and may serve as
a
subject expert. Shares specialized knowledge with
others.
Identifies mentoring needs and mentors less experienced
employees. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing
related results as needed.

Job Requirements:
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree (BS) in systems, mechanical,
electrical,
or aerospace engineering or a related technical
discipline.
Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions
of
the job typically acquired through eight or more years
of
related product and system design experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles,
higher
mathematics, and industry practices and regulations
(e.g.
FAA) associated with either mechanical, electronic,
packaging, and/or optics or related technical
disciplines.
Ability to apply and integrate knowledge of other
related
engineering areas or experts to own area of systems
expertise. Comprehensive knowledge of, and ability to
lead
and implement, continuous improvement principles and
techniques. Ability to use standard business
applications
software and specialized data analysis, design, and
project
management tools. Ability to solve complex problems in
creative and effective ways and ensure solutions are
consistent with company and customer objectives. Ability
to establish project goals and objectives, exert
influence
on the overall team and functional objectives,
coordinate
implementation or response across multiple teams, and
provide status based on project milestones. Ability to
exercise judgement within broadly defined practices and
policies in selecting methods, techniques, and
evaluation
criteria for obtaining results. Ability to analyze and
interpret complex technical studies. Ability to respond
to
significant inquiries or complaints from customers,
regulatory agencies, or members of the business
community.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and
deliver persuasive presentations on complex topics to
top
management and customers. Ability to effectively
demonstrate team member competencies and participate in
goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development
activities.
TYPICAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
required to sit. The employee frequently is required to
use hands to operate a computer and is required to talk
and
hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and
walk or move to other areas including outside the
facility. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision. Also expected of the employee is
regular attendance, the ability to work cooperatively
and
professionally with others and members of the public,
and
the ability to manage multiple tasks at once. The
employee
will be required to travel to visit with suppliers,
business partners, and customers, that may range from
overnight trips for several days at a time to extended
assignments of several months, as considered necessary
and
appropriate to properly support customers and programs.

Job Requirements Demonstrated ability to perform the

electronics, or systems engineering or a related
technical discipline. Experience with manufacturing
requirements associated w/power electronics in military
/ commercial applications. Experience designing and
evaluating packaging for High Power Electronics.
Knowledge of power electronics conversion principles and
circuit board design a plus. Able to work with software
and hardware teams to reach consensus on difficult
system-level tradeoffs Experience with design of power
conversion equipment (DC to DC, AC to DC, etc.) and
power supplies. Knowledge of power electronics system
control an advantage An excellent communicator with the
ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary R &
D team. Knowledge of DO-178 and DO-254 processes an
advantage. Job Responsibilities Contributes to
completion of sspecial assignments with broad product,
technology investment and integration, customer and
strategic impact. Perform simulation/analysis design and
verification work. Perform engineering documentation,
including specification, tests and qualification plans,
trade studies, requirements. Lead trade studies to
select the most appropriate system topology and
components to achieve integration of power electronics
system Authors components specifications and ensures
liaison with external suppliers. Plans testing of power
electronics testing for both qualification and
integration Act as the primary technical interface with
suppliers.
