Project Engineer ME/EE
This position reports to the E-Z-GO Consumer Value Stream product development director. The person will be responsible for both engineering and project management for small level projects in terms of scope and complexity. The role will be accountable for the design, execution, budget and schedule performance of single or multiple growth, VA/VE, or product improvement projects.
Engineering Job Responsibilities
Design, development or problem solving of various mechanical or electrical systems. This includes structural weldments and components, frames, steering/suspension, axle brackets, driveline attachments, seating, OPS structures, body panels and fascias, may include some level of electrical control/drive systems and wire harnesses.
Some electrical design may be required for integration and system development of electro-mechanical systems.
Leads project elements and maintains frequent contact with other functional areas, contract engineering services and suppliers
Develop Timelines in support of Project milestones.
Revise/review and create Functional Specifications.
Revise/review and create Engineering Design Standards
Develop Design Packaging Layouts.
Conduct DFMEA and create test and analysis plans for Product Validation.
Perform Tolerance Studies on Components and Assemblies.
Development and Release of Engineering BOMs, Component and Assembly Drawings.
Incorporate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on Engineering Drawings.
Resolve Test Issues and Document Through the use of the PDCA Process.
Perform cross functional design reviews and Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Assessments on Components & Assemblies.
Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on Components & Assemblies for stress, thermal etc.
Project Management Job Responsibilities
Executes proposal preparation; statements of work and specifications; estimation of product cost and the negotiation of contract prices, financial terms and program requirements.
Participates in formulating program plans and objectives for area of responsibility or program. Establishes and monitors adherence to program plans, including schedule and risk management, resource planning, requirements management, and cash flow management. Prepares and issues operational and program directives and controlling product configuration as required.
Reviews and reports the performance of program functional task elements such as engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality control, logistics, and administrative functions.
Provides leadership in the cross functional execution of the projects
Follow E-Z-GO project & Stage Gate development process and methods for tracking project status and open issues.
Qualifications and/or Experience
Education Required: Bachelor degree of Engineering or 5+ years of engineering/design experience
Have demonstrated technical knowledge in the operation of basic hand tools
Fabrication skills (sheet metal forming, machining, welding) are highly desirable
Possess good communication skills and ability to work well with teammates
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to learn CAD design software and Product Life Cycle tools.
Develop 3D CAD models of components
Knowledge of basic vehicle electrical systems
Knowledge of plastic material properties and manufacturing processes is a plus.
Experience with vehicle powertrain and/or steering/suspension is also a plus
Possesses and demonstrates skills to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Possesses and demonstrates a frequent use and application of engineering principles theories, concepts and techniques
Must be able to read part and assembly blueprints, some knowledge of GD&T.
Exposure to metal processing, design for manufacturability to include tooling and equipment, quality processes, and costs estimating.
MRP or ERP experience preferred.
Teamcenter or other CAD database tools
Visual Basic or other programming languages
Microsoft office products
