Locations: Online and Onsite Hybrid Courses in DC, MD, and VA

University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach Project Management at our Quantico, VA location. UMUC is one of 11 degree-granting institutions in the University System of Maryland (USM). Working adults, military personnel, and other students around the globe are achieving their academic goals through UMUCs innovative educational options, including online instruction, accelerated academic programs, and classroom-based courses taught during the daytime, evenings, and weekends. Currently, more than 39,500 students attend UMUC nationally, and an additional 35,000 students attend UMUC at on site classes in more than 23 countries throughout the world; about 55,000 students are active duty military, veterans, and their families. In 2011, UMUC had over 234,000 online course enrollments.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Utilizing online instructional technology tools when engaging students throughout the course learning environment
Developing, planning, implementing, and guiding assignments, in online or face to face formats

Effectively conveying course concepts in written and oral communications

Providing substantive and timely feedback to students

Facilitating courses with adult learners from diverse backgrounds

CONTENT KNOWLEDGE

An overview of the theory and practice of managing projects in any organization. Emphasis is on leadership in project management: managing projects or tasks in a team environment; building teams; and utilizing communication, organization, and conflict management skills. Discussion covers project management process groups and how these process groups (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing the project or project phase) interact throughout the life cycle of the project. Project management knowledge areas are examined and linked to industry practices for successful management of projects.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A terminal degree (i.e. PhD, JD, DBA etc.) from a regionally accredited institution

Professional experience in managing projects

Industrial experience in related industries, such as information technology, defense, construction, engineering, manufacturing, etc.

Experience in teaching online, face to face, or hybrid

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
PMP credential from the Project Management Institute
