KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is accountable for planning and managing the project delivery process. This role translates business needs into projects that are consistent with the requirements of assigned business partners and /or clients. They follow prescribed project management methodologies and assist clients in defining their project, system and information requirements and provide project leadership throughout the life of the project. They ensure time schedules are met and that the final outcome/result meets the client's needs. This role must apply their knowledge of the business area(s) supported and expertise in established project management processes and disciplines to ensure that the results meet business requirements and are consistent with project specifications. They apply their experiences in assisting in the creation of business cases identifying the costs and benefits for initiatives. Their focus is on leading and successfully completing projects within scheduled time, budget, scope and objectives.
Projects may include a technology component, business process component and/or both, so candidates should be comfortable managing both IT and business activities and providing consultative services to achieve project results.
Required: 5+ years of project managment/leadership roles within increasting levels of responsibility
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Strong ability to communicate effectively and appropriately on a business, semi-technical or highly technical level as required.
Ability to effectively lead group sessions and translate technical issues in to business terminology.
Computer skills (MS Office suite)
Ability to effectively present information in group settings.
Broad understanding of information technologies, their uses and applications.
Working knowledge of Project Management tools and techniques.
Skill in working with clients as all levels in the company to define problems, identify solutions and facilitate change.
Ability to analyze complex problems, break them down in to logical parts and offer options/solutions.
Ability to lead a number of medium to large projects with limited or no guidance from other Project Office team members.
Provide support for annual planning and other strategic planning efforts including the development of business justifications/benefit cases.
Strong knowledge of business practices and theories, including a sound understanding of the business area(s) supported.
Preferred: Insurance knowledge, management of Agile development activity, MS- Project experience and PMP certification.
Required: Bachelor's degree or comparable professional experience.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business Management of Information Technology
