Overview of the Role:
The Project Manager is responsible for end-to-end project management for post-trade operations, including: project planning, staffing needs, status reporting, issue and risk management and client management

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead project team to successful execution of the project
  • Define and manage resources, budget, project plans, scope, issues, and hit key milestones for one or more projects
  • Plan and coordinate all activities for the project to achieve overall project goals and objectives, providing direction to all members of the team
  • Facilitate clear definition and communication of project scope
  • Establish project governance, structure and controlling processes in alignment with the PM governance processes
  • Create and manage the project schedule with timely updates and identify and mitigate schedule risks and issues
  • Ensure escalation of any issues that can impact budget or deadline
  • Prioritize project risks and issues and drive to resolution
  • Update project status and generate project status and executive reports as required
  • Assist in balance of internal vs. external activities and ability to take any action needed to manage risks
  • Manage program budget and track resource utilization
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required An advanced degree is desirable
  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager
  • Financial services industry experience required; combined experience within management consulting is highly desirable
  • Post-trade operations experience required within an Investment Banking Operations environment
  • Middle and back office operations
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and software development beneficial
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and trade lifecycle events
  • Experience automating and streamlining post-trade operations, accelerating the clearing and settlement of trades, and better managing and reducing operational and counterparty credit risk
  • Strong requirement gathering and analysis skills/methodology experience (e.g., Agile, RUP, UML, SCRUM)
  • Strong schedule management skills to include establishing and managing cross-project and program interdependencies using related software tools: MS Project, MS Portfolio Server, Daptiv, EPPM, Primavera, etc
  • In-depth knowledge and experience managing all aspects of initiating, planning and managing the execution of projects including:
  • Integration management
  • Scope management
  • Time/schedule management
  • Cost management
  • Quality management
  • Risk/issue management
  • Human Resource management
  • Communications management
  • Procurement management
  • Ability to travel up to 100%
Desired Skills:
  • Capital Markets applications/trading platforms such as: Calypso, Murex, Wall Street, Sophis, Summit, Charles River, Sungard, Broadridge, Bloomberg TOMS, Fidessa etc
  • Good understanding of the Capital Markets domain (eg, Equities, FX, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Commodities, Risk, Finance, Reference Data / Market Data etc)
  • ITIL, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Six-Sigma or other Quality Management certification desirable
Additional Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to discuss complex ideas and develop project deliverables and participating in workshops with C-level executives
  • Ability to think, write and present in a logical and structured way
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to articulate the value proposition and business impact
  • Ability to exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criterion for obtaining results
  • Ability to work in cross-organizational situations

  • Self-starter with the able to quickly adapt to new business environments with minimal supervision; strong work ethic and motivated to succeed
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; the ability to manage conflicting priorities and multi-task effectively; and communicate current status and tasks to management
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set; ability to work independently and as an effective team member with client groups, taking on whatever role is necessary to achieve business objectives and enhance client relationships
  • Ability to produce clear, concise, relevant and accurate documentation based on captured requirements and information gathered from stakeholders / subject matter experts
  • Strong presentation skills, extensive experience writing successful project proposals, experience planning and execution related projects, and demonstrated project management skills and experience
  • Solid knowledge of process reengineering methodologies and process flowcharting
  • Ability to quickly learn new subjects and absorb new information and methodologies in a rapidly changing regulatory environment
  • Strong problem solving skills; ability to determine proper course or methodology without direction or supervision
