As a member of the Project Management Office team within the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at West Virginia University, this position will be responsible for processes and standards, effective stakeholder relationships, successful delivery of information technology services and systems. This position will participate in process and standard development as well as all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle and Change Control processes, using best practices and functional expertise in business, research and e-learning applications to help drive change through technology and business process redesign.
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training, work experience in an Information Technology/Business Management environment is required. A Master’s degree (M.S.) preferred. Formal training in project management and/or certification is desirable.
This position will require excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written; must be enterprising, judicious, entrepreneurial, and diplomatic; experience with developing processes / standards, gathering and consolidating requirements from cross-functional groups, proven project planning, governance and management skills; must have demonstrated problem solving skills and excellent analytical skills; demonstrated leadership ability; ability to motivate, empower and lead employees; to work collaboratively within an academic community; to manage and supervise staff; to manage and complete projects within budget/time; to develop and manage budgets; and to communicate with (senior) administrators and vendor personnel/management regarding contractual & technical issues.
Extensive experience with Information Technology project management and a strong understanding of functional business processes with significant experience in one or more of the following functional areas: finance, academia, information security and technical infrastructure, business systems, and/or customer service within a large complex environment required. Project Management experience/background with document management and imaging systems, Oracle 11i E-Business Suite, SunGard Banner, Blackboard, Kuali, telecommunications, network infrastructure preferred.
