Software Project Manager

The software Project Manager is a client-facing role. This individual is expected to develop a strong understanding customer business needs and translate those needs into operational plans that deliver successful results. The Project Manager is responsible for managing client and software project teams through all phases of the implementation process, including discovery, design, configuration, implementation, and testing. The Project Manager has experience and knowledge of the software solution, which enables them to define and drive the project plan, perform resource allocation and management, and ensure that high-quality deliverables are produced. The Project Manager manages to the software budget, critical success factors, and project schedules.


  • Bachelor’s degree required. (Equivalent experience in lieu of a formal degree should be listed)
  • Must have 3 years experience in business analysis, software customization and/or software implementation, 3 years experience in project management or team leadership.
  • Previous experience in management consulting
  • Previous experience in education technology and online learning is preferred
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (list specific functional areas of knowledge required within a discipline i.e. credit, accounts payable, etc.)
  • Proficient in management of software projects and leading technical teams
  • Ability to manage complex software implementation projects
  • Experience managing technical project teams, across multiple organizations with detailed budget reporting requirements
  • Strong business analysis and requirements gathering experience
  • Exposure to and understanding of web technologies and scripting/programming languages, preferably HTML, CSS, Java, Javascript and/or Python
  • Excellent communication, presentation and written skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, self-starter
  • 25% Manage implementation projects, liaise with stakeholders and direct technical consultants
  • 25% Consult with customers (phone, online or in person) to determine needs, gather requirements and develop solutions
  • 25% Customize the software product
  • 10% Deliver presentations and training to administrators and technical staff
  • 5% Identifies enhancement/functional improvement opportunities for the software product
