SUMMARY

The Project Manager - Digital will be responsible for accomplishing project objectives by planning, evaluating, and executing project activities for digital initiatives of various types for Al Jazeera America. These initiatives will cover a variety of platforms, including but not limited to web, mobile, tablet, online video, and social media.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, independent, self-starter with experience in all stages of the digital project life cycle. This role reports to the Head of Digital Products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Define, organize, and consolidate business requirements for digital products, services, and platforms.
  • Create, communicate, and manage project plans.
  • Track key milestones, deliverables, resources and communications for ongoing projects within the digital department.
  • Maintain and manage project related documentation.
  • Work closely with design, development, and sales/marketing to ensure smooth communication and project completion.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with communication and intra- and interdepartmental scheduling.
  • Assist digital Product Managers in discovery and requirements gathering.
EDUCATION
  • BA/BS required
  • Certified in project management (e.g. PMP)
EXPERIENCE
  • 4-6 years of experience in project management

KNOWLEDGE
  • Technical background, with experience in online production and/or engineering, along with experience in general project management software tools.
  • Experience working in a multi-divisional environment with programming, visual design, business development, and sales/marketing.
  • Experience gathering requirements and specifications
  • Experience with broadcast television and/or international online expansion a plus.
