Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Project Quality Manager - NADC located in San Antonio, TX through December 4, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
The NADC Project will establish a new Chevron central data center located in San Antonio, Texas. The project team will be located in San Antonio for the construction phase. There will be a need for 10-25% domestic travel to facilitate and monitor equipment fabrication during the procurement phase. This may also include international travel. Some civil site preparation is required, most of the work will entail the internal fit-out of the building and the placement and installation of large pre-fabricated modules and associated interconnects and field hook-up, the installation of IT equipment and commissioning of the facility and the IT infrastructure.
The Project Quality Manager reports to the Project Manager with a dotted line reporting functionally to PRC's Quality Management Central Team's Regional Quality Manager. The Project Quality Manager's role includes the Site QA/QC and Supplier Quality Coordinator roles and is responsible for facilitating the continued development and effective implementation of the Project Quality Management System by the project team and contractors. The Quality Management System provides added assurance that project goals and expectations are met in a manner that meets design, corporate, local and contractual objectives.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Leading, coaching, training and promoting development of greater project team understanding of project expectations for deliverables quality in all functional areas and disciplines.
Sourcing and managing project quality personnel; Inspectors, Site QA/QC Personnel, etc.
Providing development and training so that Quality personnel have the proper credentials and qualifications to meet project needs.
Managing project quality support functions including quality planning, budgets, quality system training, preventive action, non-conformance control, corrective action, audits, continuous improvement (including Lessons Learned), and project quality reporting & review.
Managing, planning, and conducting assessments and audits of the contractors, their subcontractors, and major critical suppliers.
Working closely with the project management team, the position stewards assessments, audit findings, and recommended corrective actions to resolution and closure.
Providing guidance to project management on quality related issues.
Managing project service and product verification and inspection of the project deliverables on behalf of the owner that are consistent with criticality assessments, and contractual/regulatory obligations.
Bachelors in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural, Materials Engineering or similar.
A minimum of 10 years experience in heavy industrial environments or critical facilities experience (e.g. Data center design and construction, oil and gas etc) including at least 5 years in Project Quality Management.
Ability to interact and influence senior Project, BU management for project quality related matters.
Thorough understanding of the principles and practice of Quality Management and the implementation and improvement of management systems.
Practical experience of plant and vendor inspection of typical types of equipment and materials (predominately Electrical and Mechanical) required for data center installations.
Ability to develop, maintain, and update in-house technical / quality standards & specifications.
Demonstrable capabilities in planning and organizing projects and activities to meet project requirements e.g. project quality planning and resourcing for projects to ensure they are suitably resourced with sufficient and capable quality management expertise.
Experience in managing multicultural and multidiscipline teams on major capital projects and/or in Business Units.
Experienced in establishing team work plans, priorities, roles and responsibilities.
Recognized as fostering a positive team environment where people want to work.

Proven experience in managing people, including recruiting, coaching, mentoring, career planning, motivating, and providing constructive feedback.
Knowledge of safe work practices in a field construction environment.
Experience related to Quality planning, budgets, Project & Supplier Quality Management Plans, cost management, scheduling Inspection agency and reporting.
Experience with EPCs, contractors, and suppliers, preferably in the data center or critical facilities markets/oil and gas.
Experience in determining appropriate level of quality assurance and control during manufacturing, fabrication of modules, assembly at vendor shop, receipt of equipment & components, receipt of bulks, and during installation and commissioning.
Communicates in a clear, concise, understandable manner.
Maintains frequent, proactive, and effective contact with stakeholders.
Proven track record in managing significant change through proactive communication and leadership.
Ability to build relationships based on respect and credibility both inside and outside of Chevron and across cultural and functional boundaries.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
