We are seeking qualified Risk Management Officers to provide services in support of the build and implementation of a comprehensive, distributed Information Technology solution. The goal of this project is to replace a 25 year old mainframe system with a new Software as a Service (SaaS) system. This solution is being developed for a 4 party consortium. This position will work on behalf of the consortium Project Management Office (PMO). The Risk Management Officer will work as part of a team that includes a Project Manager, Project Administrator, Project Communication Officer, and a Project Quality Officer.
Bachelor's degree (or higher)
Minimum of two (2) years of verifiable experience performing Project Management and Risk Management functions on large, distributed Information Technology projects
General business acumen
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to convey project risks and risk exposure, and communicate effectively with all stakeholders in terms they understand
Proficient in common tools (at a minimum Word and Excel) in order to document and manage project risk
Firm understanding of project risk variables and impact assessment techniques, especially those related to IT projects and addressed in the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK)
Ability to assemble, analyze and evaluate data in order to prepare appropriate, well-reasoned and evidence-based artifacts that support the assessment of project risk as well as the identification of viable mitigation and/or contingency plans
Qualified candidates will need to provide project and technical references (3 each) that are able to validate cited skills and experience and be able to submit sample work product(s). Significant travel may be required. Experience with multi-vendor application development projects, including Software as a Service (SaaS) system solutions, is preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) or Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) certifications are preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Apply generally accepted and PMI standard project and risk management principles to enable project success
Provide expertise in developing and administering the project risk documents and communicating project risk status, assumptions, variables and impacts across the project on behalf of diverse stakeholders
Advise PMO on issues and topics related to risks or risk-related concern of the project
Ensure that all risks are captured and communicated in a standard and consistent manner that enables resolution and future reference
Assist in identification of viable risk mitigation and contingency plans
Manage risks in a manner that ensures timely review and risk avoidance whenever possible
Work collaboratively with the Project Manager to deliver comprehensive project management services
