Administer/direct nursing/psychiatric care to consumers. Monitor consumer condition during the administration of restraints. Assess physical conditions and administer proper medication and treatment. Resonsible and accountable for nursing care given under his/her supervision. Carry out specific and general nursing aspects of the Interdisciplinary Program Plan (IPP) and attends the interdisciplinary Team meetings as required. Assist physician in delivery of medical attention. Follows through with orders. Maintain clinic appointments and assist in coordination of appropriate referrals with outside community agencies. Directly resposible for all medical/emergency decisions for all consumers on their modules. Train consumers in health related matters, e.g. infection control and handwashing. Evaluate consumers for appropriate medical admission to hospital for emergency care in absence of Medical Director and/or Nurse Director. Assess and communicate appropriate medical information to Nursing Supervisor and/or Medical Director regarding consumer conditions. Answer first aid calls and make total body assessments of consumers looking for abnormalities. Assists in feeding and grooming consumers when needed. Responsible for consumer/family teaching and responds to emergencies. Responsible for establishing and maintaining a high quality of physical and emotional care for all consumers. Assists Nursing Director in training new and existing staff. Attend administrative and interdisciplinary team meetings, in-service programs, nurse meetings, special meeting consumer IPP reviews and other meetings as scheduled and prepare reports for IPP meetings. Participates and conducts in-service training with staff on consumers. Functionally supervise LPNs and aides with medical procedures. Performs related clerical and administrative duties involved with professional nursing; performs duties of lower-level direct care staff. Attend appropriate training and meetings as necessary.
Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code.
