Position works as part of a mental health treatment team. Duties include but are not limited to, performing comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnosis; prescribing psychotropic medications to adults with psychiatric and or substance abuse disorders; determining the medical necessity of proposed mental health services; and working collaboratively with other licensed independent practitioners, mental health practitioners, and primary care providers. Performs other duties as required.
$6,303.04 - $8,626.14 per month for a 172.67 hour work month. Excellent County benefit package when eligible. This is a union represented position. Position is available immediately.

Master's degree in nursing. One year of responsible psychiatric nurse practitioner experience preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of providing clinical nursing to clients; knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing the provision of care to clients in the State of Oregon; knowledge of processes, procedures, and theories of clinical assessment of the mental status of clients; knowledge of principles, practices, and theories of clinical education of clients in the areas of psychiatric care; knowledge of documentation procedures for charting and reporting the mental status of clients; knowledge of theories and practices of client management and treatment within the scope of certification; knowledge of analytical tests and procedures used in clinical settings to determine the mental status of clients; knowledge of pharmacology as applied to clinical nursing and prescription of drugs as authorized within the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner formulary and Oregon Revised Statutes.
Ability to accurately assess, diagnose and treat a variety of mental health disorders including knowledge of psycho pharmacology; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to remain calm and use good judgment during confrontational or high pressure situations; ability to conduct and report on mental health exams and histories; ability to provide referral to other health care practitioners or agencies; ability to interpret results of analysis and tests and to provide treatment modalities; ability to manage a caseload of clients and to develop treatment programs, work limitations, and follow-up care plans for clients; ability to diagnose diseases, ailments, and illnesses; ability to direct the clinical activities of other health care personnel; ability to travel throughout Deschutes County in sometimes adverse weather conditions; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others at all times.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Possession of or ability to obtain an Oregon Registered Nurse license AND Oregon Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner license or Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist license with prescription privileges by date of hire.
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon an acceptable and verifiable driver's license and driving history.
Final candidate will be required to provide their official proof of college degree and certified transcripts prior to hire date.
Computer literacy with strong typing and computer skills required.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, to meet client needs.
Access to reliable transportation to provide services at a variety of clinic locations.
Final candidate selected for position will be required to pass a drug screening and a thorough employment and criminal history investigation.
