Public Computer Specialist (Half-Time) @
Job Summary: As a Public Computer Specialist you will have the duties and responsibilities, under general supervision, of assisting customers in the use of software applications on computers. You will answer customer inquiries concerning the use of computer software applications including printing, word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, and other specialized software. You will monitor software, hardware, and other related equipment to evaluate use, effectiveness, and adequacy for users and may submit recommendations to planning team and tech group for review. Persons in this position may also provide backup to the circulation functions and answer general directional and informational questions from customers.
Salary and Hours: $14.50 per hour. This is a half-time position working 20 hours a week. Primary hours are Monday 1-4:30pm, Tuesday 1-4:30pm, Wednesday 1-5pm, Thursday 1-5pm, and Friday 1-6pm. Hours are subject to change in accordance with the needs of the library.
Location: Northwest Library, 5600 NW 122nd St, OKC, OK.
Qualifications: High school graduation, or GED, and computer classes at a Vo-tech, college level courses, or courses from a specialized training firm are preferred. Six months to one year of progressively responsible related experience and previous experience and proficiency with the Microsoft products Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required. Previous computer software help desk experience is preferred. Any combination of education, training, and experience, which produce the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, may be accepted.

Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of computer applications and hardware related to performance of the essential functions of the job; record keeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, speak and hear and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
