Based at the Petersburg Health Department - Independently provides professional nursing care to patients in clinics, homes and schools. Performs nursing assessments, may perform lab tests, take measurements, develop and implement care plans, including the administration of medication and case management.
Must have VA RN licensure or eligible to obtain. Knowledge of nursing process, health maintenance, disease processes, case management process and basic principles of epidemiology. Knowledge of basic principles of women's health/family planning. Work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team. Effective verbal, written interpersonal/physical assessment skills. Exercise sound nursing judgment. Function independently in the home/clinic/community/school settings. Prioritize workload. Must have, or be eligible to obtain a valid driver's license; district travel required. District events, meetings, emergency operations, etc. may require some weekend and/or evening hours.
BSN/public health experience- will accept related experience in lieu of education. Prefer Bilingual in English and Spanish desired. Ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds preferred. Knowledge and experience in use of computers and computer applications preferred; skilled in internet, email and Microsoft Office.
