The Harnett County Department of Public Health is currently seeking a Public Health Nurse II (HTH 115-11)work within the Home Health Division and provide public health services for an assigned area of the County with a patient care load that varies.

Examples of Duties:
Work will include total care of the patient through case management and therapy and patient assignments will be given after the patient's admission to the agency for services. An employee within this position is responsible for the quality of health care delivered to patients served by the agency by developing a nursing care plan, assuring implementation of the plan of care to include treatments ordered by the physician, notifying the physician of patient changes, documentation of care records into the patient's file, ordering DME as needed and ensuring accuracy of claims submitted. Work will require specialized knowledge in nursing theory and practices which include nursing assessment and diagnosis, principles and techniques utilized in the provision of nursing care, coordination of services and home health aide supervisory visits, and accurate knowledge of home health practices and principles including billing qualifications for service. This position will require the employee to work an on-call rotating basis with other nurses within the division. On occasion, the employee may be required to assist with admissions when an overflow may arise. Other related duties may be performed as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing which includes a Public Health rotation and one year of Public Health Nursing experience; or a Master's in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience including one year of Public Health Nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Supplemental Information:
A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing is required.
