Position Overview


The Public Relations/Social Media Specialist will assist with the development and execution of strategic public relations and social media initiatives to build brand awareness, drive lead generation and enhance the company’s reputation.

This role will report into the Public Relations Manager in the Corporate Brand and Communications Team.

Responsibilities will include media/analyst relations as well as driving the social media strategies and tactics for Datacard Group. This individual will be expected to work closely with

various stakeholders in the company—such as the Public Relations Manager, Marketing Communications Managers, Vertical Marketing Managers and Director of Brand and Communications—to understand strategy, business direction and budget availability to effectively execute public relations and social media efforts and deliverables.

Social Media Management: 60%

Responsible for the planning, implementation, and analysis of a comprehensive social media marketing program, including developing, executing, and maintaining a social media strategy to stimulate online traffic, increase brand awareness, and develop customer loyalty for multiple business units within Datacard Group.

Ensure that the social media plan and strategy coincide with the overall global brand and communications plans to effectively communicate product launches, events, annou

ncements, etc. via our social media channels.

Manage all of company’s social media outlets – including corporate blog, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.

Create and manage a social media editorial content calendar in order to drive web traffic, lead generation and community building.

Develop content and manage the creation of content from industry experts within the company for our social media channels.

Manage social media engagement and responses.

Utilize listening and monitoring tools to track, measure and analyze the effectiveness of social media activities as well as communicate results to the organization.

Strategize with and educate marketing leaders on incorporating relevant social media into the various marketing programs.

Public Relations Coordination: 40%

Assist in the creation and execution of public relations plans and tactics to help build and maintain a positive corporate brand image while strengthening media relations and brand awareness.

Help with media and analyst outreach and relations, responding to requests for information as needed.

Maintain various lists including media, blogger and industry analyst contact databases.

Assist in managing and developing public relations editorial calendars and content.

Identify and secure appropriate speaking engagements for Datacard Group executives at key industry events, trade associations, seminars, etc. and function as the liaison for media/analyst interviews as needed.

Help write, edit and produce case studies, press releases, thought leadership articles whitepapers, testimonials, etc.

Identify and submit opportunities for appropriate industry awards and recognition.

Develop and attend trade show press briefings, managing pressroom accommodations, and conduct post show follow-up.

Assist in speechwriting, PowerPoint presentations and overall PR coordination of internal tracking documents.

Track, analyze and report public relations activities and results.


Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, business or English Literature, or equivalent formal education and experience


3-5+ years of social media and/or PR experience


PR/social media experience working for technology clients or at a technology company highly preferred


Familiarity with a variety of the PR, social media, and media relation’s concepts, practices and procedures


Proven experience in writing in a wide variety of formats


Experience creating and executing social media strategies that build a fan base, increase engagement, drive online traffic and lead generation


Organized, results-oriented, self-motivated team player


Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment and deal with multiple projects and deadlines


Excellent verbal communications skills with superior written communications, including in-depth knowledge of Associated Press style


Proficient with MS Office applications: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook


Possess a strong attention to detail, accuracy and grammar
