We are currently looking for a talented Publications Manager to join our Editorial team within PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases in our rapidly growing San Francisco office.
The ideal candidate will be a confident and highly organized self-starter with first class communication and problem solving skills. Applicants must be extremely detail-oriented, highly organized and be able to work cooperatively in a team-oriented environment within the Production umbrella.
Training and line management of PLOS NTD’s Publications Assistants
Analyzing and updating journal processes to improve turnaround times
Maintaining and updating workflow documentation for journal staff, editors, reviewers, and authors.
Implementing Editorial Board initiatives by planning development and delegating responsibilities within the team.
Maintenance of Editorial Board membership
In conjunction with Editorial Manager, act as journal liaison with production, web, and marketing teams
Coordinating front matter and special collections
Issue image and homepage selection
Arranging editorial board and subject matter editor calls; setting agendas and taking notes
Coordinating the weekly call with the Editors-in-Chief (EIC)
Producing the journal’s section of the monthly publishing report
Other special projects as assigned by the Editorial Manager
Qualifications and Experience:
1 years’ experience in publishing, preferably STM or academic
Comfort with making decisions and training staff
Familiarity with Editorial Manager or similar content management systems
Enthusiasm for science and open access
