Coordinates activities involved with
purchasing all goods and services.
Controls raw material stocks, components, purchased items, operating
supplies pertinent to meeting EFS Manufacturing/Customer Service requirements.
Ensures that proper quantities of materials are on order. Contacts vendors and
shippers to ensure that merchandise, supplies, and equipment are forwarded on
specified shipping dates.
Assists Production Planning function to determine materials
required and provides information to production personnel in order to fabricate
products in a timely manner and meet customer requirements. Ensures that proper quantities or materials
are on order. Performs miscellaneous
duties as required to provide an even and timely work flow to Production.
Assists Drafting staff in scheduling
of new jobs, revisions, releases and file/field drawings based on lead times
determined by supervisor.

Responsibilities (Text Only):

(1) PURCHASING AND EXPEDITING
Reviews upcoming orders from MRP report to ensure that proper
quantities are on order. As conditions
warrant, expedites advanced shipments of orders to satisfy plant production
requirements. Reviews upcoming orders to
ensure that deliveries are on schedule.
Contacts vendor by email or phone to verify shipment of goods on
specified date. Follows up on overdue
materials. Establishes and varies
inventory levels, order points and procurement lead time for delivery to assure
adequate operating stocks to facilitate manufacturing schedules and customer
services. Process shipments from vendors
directly to our customers. Assigns and
build new part numbers, as required.
Approves invoices for payment.
Contact suppliers on adjustments, incorrect material, delivery, etc. Informs supervisor of problems encountered
such as failure of vendor to supply materials, short deliveries, transit problems, etc., so that alternate
procedures may be initiated, e.g. utilizing alternate supply sources, revising
production schedules, etc., to avoid delays.
Works directly with major supply account (Hendrick Screen Co) for
ordering stainless steel grids and for C/S material to be transferred to them
(wooden templates, carpet and frames if required).
(2) PRODUCTION PLANNING
Reads and analyzes shop drawings and job files. Determines if jobs have accurate and
sufficient information in order to release for fabrication. Communicates with Sales, as necessary, to
obtain additional information in order to prepare shop work orders. Determines materials to be used on jobs and
prepares preliminary material take-offs.
Provides bill of materials, fabrication instructions and finishing
instructions for shop work orders.
Determines hardware best suited for proper installation. Assists fabrication personnel when required
for work order interpretation.
(3) DRAFTING COORDINATOR
Assists Drafting Team by coordinating
and assigning work to Drafting staff.
Estimates and assigns scheduled completion dates. Performs drafting follow-up for missing
information or additional information required.
(4) OTHER DUTIES
Ensures
conformance to all aspects of the ISO 14001 standard and Construction
Specialties’ Environmental Management System (EMS), including its environmental
policy while performing job functions that may have a significant impact on the
environment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree in Business
Administration, Communications or similar field and 2-3 years related work experience
and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional specialized training in Inventory
Control and Auto-CAD courses would be an asset.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret
shop drawings, job files, contracts, purchase orders, invoices, requisitions,
catalogs, parts lists, business correspondence, general business periodicals,
and technical procedures. Ability to
write business correspondence, effectively negotiate, use interpersonal skills and
respond to questions from other departments, sales, managers, vendors and
others.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and apply
concepts such as fractions, decimals, discounts, area, circumference,
percentages and volume to practical situations.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems, deal with a variety of concrete variables, and
make decisions on prices and delivery in situations where only limited
standardization exists. Ability to
interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or
schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Computer literacy including spreadsheets and data bases.
Knowledge of construction and fabrication methods.
Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
Ability to meet deadlines and pay attention to detail for
sustained periods of time.
Good interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with other
departments, vendors and others.
