Purchasing Officer I
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES NEEDED TO UNDERTAKE JOB:
- 60 semester hours of college credit for course work in any field or
- 18 months of responsible work experience in fields that provide preparation for purchasing work such as purchasing, claim resolution, expediting, returned goods, resolving billings, and/or public relations/customer service or
- Any proportional combination of the above that equals 18 months
Skill in effective oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of purchasing, accounts payable and business practices
Skill in mathematical computation
Ability to learn university policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws as they pertain to purchasing
- Competence in Word, Excel and PowerPoint software is needed
- Experience with Banner or an equivalent ERP system is desirable
Under the general supervision of the Director of Purchasing, this position is responsible for a wide variety of specialized products and services, and advises user departments on the purchase of such items.
$30,000 - $36,000 per year
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
(Hours may vary depending on departmental needs)
