JOB DUTIES

Scope of the Job

Responsible for making purchases for the University of Florida Jacksonville Healthcare and Jacksonville Physicians at the best price available for the quality of product required for the task and completing all paperwork required for the transaction.

Essential Functions

The essential functions are the primary dimensions for performance review.

1.

Convert approved purchase order requests to purchase orders.

2.

Determine the appropriate vendor based on best price and quality of product needed for the task.

3.

Negotiate with vendors to receive lowest price on all items.

4.

Ensure the necessary authorizations have been obtained and place orders with vendors.

5.

Assist Accounts Payable with invoice reconciliation.

6.

Keep customers informed i.e., transaction status, open purchase orders, backorders, returns, credits, procedures, etc.

7.

Complete & maintain Purchasing documentation.

Secondary Functions

1.

Review and expedite backorders.

2.

Coordinate product returns.

3.

Other tasks as assigned by management.

Temperament

Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual situations. Must be capable of dealing with periodic cyclical workload pressures and levels of responsibility. Required to make independent judgments without supervision. Must be able to make generalizations, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria. Must have the adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Requires the ability to work with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Professional telephone etiquette.

Experience

1 year procurement experience.

1 year of computer/e-procurement experience desired.

Education and Certifications

High school diploma required.

A.A. degree and/or some college level business coursework preferred.

A.P.P certification helpful
