The Cloud Services team is bringing cloud enabled experiences and platform services to our mobile devices and ecosystem of partners worldwide. The QA team is an integral part of the Cloud Services development group and chartered with managing quality for these services and consumer experiences. The tools and practices used by this team are leading edge. QA engineers are developing test automation for mobile services and big data and applying these tools to an agile software development process. The team is composed of engineers experienced in software development and passionate about quality.
Scope and Impact:

We are looking for a QA Director to take a leadership role in Cloud Services and QA. This person will have the opportunity to structure and grow the QA team. This person will choose appropriate QA methodologies, tools and automation, while aligning with the common frameworks and processes utilized in Cloud Services. Cloud Services supports millions of live users, so quality and execution must be flawless. At the same time, the QA team must support the fast-paced development of new features and products. This is an exciting opportunity to take a team to the next level.

Job Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a seasoned QA leader with experience in hands-on software development. He or she must have experience with software QA of large-scale internet services. This person should bring knowledge of best practices and tools from industry.

This person should have a proven ability to build and develop a QA team in a fast-paced environment. He or she must have experience in presenting to management and explaining technical topics. Have a track record of using metrics to manage teams. Enable innovation and thought leadership for his/her domain. This person must also be a great communicator that can align cross functional teams by applying the right balance of strategy, operational needs and innovation to achieve significant organizational goals.

8 years experience in a QA management position supporting software development and live services. A 4-year bachelor degree in Computer Science or Engineering is required. A master or PhD degree is a plus.


Provide innovative and seasoned direction in software development and QA. Regularly interface with senior leadership and represent functional goals in context of broader organizational goals. Present to management on a variety of related topics.

Manage multiple QA teams on different projects. Provide guidance and direction to team members to achieve goals and develop experience. Set and track goals for employees and team.

Collaborate with other Motorola businesses or external entities to achieve large-scale goals. Manage internal/external customer and/or supplier interface as required at a senior level. Negotiate with suppliers, strategic partners and/or internal customers.

Represent Motorola Mobility on significant Technical and Standards bodies.
