Position: C# developer that has become a QA professional


QA professional that has C# development skills

In short, a QA person that has recent programming experience.

Location: Irving TX

Duration: 6 months contract

Specific needs:
Intermediate experience with C#

Experience testing SOAP services, preferably at a lower level than UI-based utilities

Ability to work with SQL Server: write queries that involve joins; understand functions, views and stored procs; incorporate data validation in your testing

Experience with TDD/BDD test tools, preferably StoryQ or SpecFlow

Experience with TFS as source repository and testing tool is desirable, but not required

it will be working with StoryQ (integrated with TFS) to automate testing of SOAP services. The use of TFS and StoryQ is mandatory—the team we are working with has specific processes that must be followed.

The reason for the C# requirement is that it is the language that StoryQ operates in (you write the tests in plain language which gets translated to C# stub code, which you then have to build out). When the project is complete all the automated tests for new services roll into the regression code base (and this process is formal and mandatory).

Attached is a job description of what I want in a QA Analyst. It’s my default ask. Ideally the automation person would fulfill all of these things and then have the C#/programming skills on top of that, but I realize that might be a bit unrealistic to expect. The C#/programming is non-negotiable; all the other QA skills are preferred but not required.

I tend to emphasize the soft skills (intelligence, aptitude, personality, passion, fit with our team culture) over specific skills and experience. Not that I don’t care about skills and experience, but I think character and the person matter a bit more.
