QC Inspector

This is a Security Installation Inspector position for a large Government contract. Candidate must have a thorough knowledge of principles and practices of electrical and electronic construction and the ability to inspect contract construction work including, installation and testing of wire and cable, security equipment, and operation of the associated systems. Candidate is to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Candidate should understand principles of configuration management, integration & acceptance testing and have experience with documenting non-conforming product and corrective actions. The inspector will be required to travel to overseas locations to inspect ongoing installation projects. Position is based out of Alexandria , Virginia and will report to the program Quality Manager.

Maintain quality control in accordance with established guidelines and standards. Some standards are organic to the client.

Develop program and technical project specific quality control SOPs and checklists as assigned.

Review government master quality assurances checklists and develops and implements testing and inspection procedures specific to the assigned technical security project

Perform incoming and outgoing inspections.

Perform physical measurements and field testing of installed conduits, electronic devices, security system equipment, cabling and wiring, power supplies, power panels, UPS, voltage regulators, Software House integration equipment, and proper labeling.

Compare actual work against the original design, working drawings specification requirements, workmanship standards and work instructions.

Inspect testing results from project installation and integration checks and tests in accordance with published standards and/or acceptable standards of quality and workmanship

Document any deviations, lessons learned or non-conformances, including non-conforming material reports.

Verifies punch list items are captured and completed for site installation closure.

Effectively use an internal and client approved QC Checklist. Advise Quality Manager and stake holders on lessons learned and make recommendations on revising the Checklist. As part of our Phase Close Loop Lessons Learned approach to QC, must be able to advise project installation team, engineering managers and PM on the quality control standards for technical security upgrade projects and detail recommended corrective actions for future efforts

Posses' knowledge of test equipment, calibration, and procedures applicable to the installation, troubleshooting procedures and system integration

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those team individuals, including subcontractors, and high level customers encountered in the work environment

Be able to provide training to the installation team while on site to enhance quality

Effective verbal and written communications at all levels

Travel could be up to 75% of the time, and will include overseas travel, sometimes into hazard areas or under harsh conditions.

Will be required to work independently

This position is contingent upon contract award, customer approval, and/or position availability


Qualifications and education:
Must have the ability to physically perform activities such as climbing ladders, crawling through manholes and plenums, walking long distances over rough terrain and climbing long flights of stairs.

2-year degree in a technical discipline, engineering or construction related field, or a high school diploma and equivalent work experience, is required.

Minimum 5-8 years inspection experience in electrical and technical security installations is mandatory.

Must have acute attention to detail and observation skills..

Position requires an active Secret clearance. A Top Secret (T.S.) clearance is preferred.
