SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in solving problems and making routine recommendations. Normally receives little instruction on routine work and general instructions on new assignments.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To provide basic testing of raw materials or finished product and inspection testing of components to be used in the Biologics Testing or Cell Banking departments.

To ensure basic tasks are completed and provide support to the lab when required

To provide environmental monitoring of classified areas in compliance with applicable procedures

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Works in Microbiology and Cell Culture environments.

Interacts with all levels within the laboratory; interacts with other areas of the company on a limited basis

Perform basic test assays on raw materials, finished products, or components

Perform limited complex assays on raw materials or finished products

Provide basic lab support as necessary including but not limited to preparation of reagents and ordering stock materials and chemicals

Perform data entry of QC test data

Follow and adhere to cGLP’s, cGMP’s, SOP’s and all safety regulations as they apply to the laboratory and work areas

Proper documentation is required on a daily basis

May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School diploma

Associates degree or higher in a natural science discipline preferred

Knowledge and experience in chemistry, microbiology, biology, cell culture desired.

Experience:

0-2 years relevant experience in natural science or related field

Knowledge of computers and use of computers in a laboratory setting is desired

Proven ability, through work or non-work experiences, to consistently and accurately follow detailed instructions is necessary

Knowledge and Skills:

Requires functional knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and techniques

Excellent written and oral communication skills are required

Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently is required

Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position

Initiative, organizational skills, and computer skills are extremely valuable to ensure effective laboratory operations

ADDITIONAL LOCAL NEEDS

Works in a laboratory environment

Required to lift up to 25 pounds

May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties

Must be able to work safely with chemicals, biologics, and hazardous materials

Must be able to work overtime and flexible shifts.
