To obtain local Quality representation to maintain and implement the BV Quality Manual at Curtis-Straus.

To maintain existing external accreditations and to support accreditation expansions.

OBJECTIVES Responsible for maintaining accreditations and recognitions for Curtis-Straus.

Ensure that the lab works within the Quality System for all aspects of testing and certification operations in accordance with applicable standards, location procedures as well as BVCPS quality requirements.

Meet with Global Quality to coordinate activities.


1. Quality System

• Assist Global Quality with the development, maintenance and improvement of a system that is in compliance with appropriate standards and the BV Quality manual that is used in Littleton.

• Coordinate proficiency programs.

• Ensure the integrity of and oversee that the operation of the calibration system complies with the quality system.

• Ensure the document control system for the location complies with the quality system.

• Create, maintain and update local SOPs relating to quality

• Facilitate new accreditation and recognitions

• CARs and PARS – review and approve RCA, STA, LTA, verify CARs with follow-up, validate CARs

• Schedule, lead and document annual Management Review

• Schedule and lead monthly Quality meeting

• Maintain accreditation master list

2. Customer Focus duties

• Assist in regularly surveying internal and external customers to evaluate and improve the quality of business processes and overall client services.

• Work with Managers and operational staff to ensure that processes meet customer requirements.

• Ensure that location complies with all complaint requirements. Assist in resolution of client complaints as required.

• Maintain complaint, corrective action and preventative action database

3. Document Control

• Ensure the document control system for the location complies with the quality system.

• Maintain Master list

• Revise and create SOPs as needed

• Issue and withdraw documents

• Maintain Records

4. Proficiency Testing

• Register Lab for PTPs

• Maintain PTP log

• Issue CARs and follow-up on PTP corrective actions

• Send PTP results to NCB/AB as required

5. Audits

• Host and lead audits from external assessors

• Conduct internal audits for 17025, 17065, 14001, 18001

• Create, and maintain internal audit checklists

• Create annual IA schedule and plan

• Conduct Quality checks

6. Training

• Create Quality related training materials

• Conduct training

• Maintain training records

• Follow-up on training needs and maintain Master List

7. Suppliers and Subcontractors

• Maintain Master Lists

• Maintain all records

• Issue new approvals

• Communicate approvals, denials and requirements with suppliers, subcontractors, sales and operations.

• Perform annual revaluations of suppliers and subcontractors

8. HSE

• Act as HSE Manager for site

• Conduct all site training and communication

• Develop and maintain local HSE manual

• Develop and maintain local HSE procedures

• Create and implement local HSE job procedures

• Communicate HSE policy to site and customers (events, newsletters, postings, etc)

• Perform and maintain HS Risk Assessment and E Impact assessment

• Maintain HSE risk/impact matrix

• Monitor and evaluate compliance to HSE legal requirements

• Maintain document control and record keeping

• Create and maintain emergency response plan

• Develop, monitor and analyse and report HSE KPIs

• Conduct internal audits

• Perform monthly and bi-weekly status reporting

• Provide Certification audit and maintenance audit support

• Maintain A&I tracking

• Provide HSE induction training and all other HSE related training to site

• Provide A&I and training reporting as required

• Conduct site inspections

• Issue safety alerts

• Conduct evaluation drills and maintain logs and reporting

• Track consumption data and provide month reporting, trending and analysis

• Create and maintain environmental action plan

• Perform Carbon Footprint calculations and reports

• Lead PPE initiative (inspections, training, etc)

• Participate, advise and support Green and Safety team initiatives

9. Certification

• Maintain Accepted Lab list

• Track 17025 certificates and expirations

• Conduct 17025 audits of accepted labs (internationally)

10. Other duties and responsibilities

• Launch new and updated versions of the quality manual providing including required training and record keeping

• Maintain organization charts

• Maintain required postings

• Conduct and manage internal audits, as required, of testing and certification operations to assess the effectiveness of quality system, identify weaknesses, recommend corrective actions, and review effectiveness.

• Ensure timeliness and appropriateness of all corrective and/or preventive actions and assist when required in the root cause analysis and identification and implementation of resolutions.

• Conduct, analyse and report KPI accuracy audits monthly.

• Keep current with regulations, accreditations, certifications, and registrations for C-S

• Maintain and issue process flowcharts

• Complete incoming requests for supplier, subcontractor and ethics declarations and forms
