Under general supervision of the Director-Clinical Quality Data & Epidemiology, coordinates and supervises the daily activities of the clinical data collection, abstraction and analysis to support the system-wide approach for all publicly reported data; is the liaison for clinical and operations improvement data and analysis for the system, coordinating with the PI/Operations Research staff and Project Knowledge staff, as appropriate. Provides technical expertise, coaches and performs job functions related to data management functions including database administration, data administration, and integrity of collection, reporting and analysis. Formulates and defines scope and objectives based on an exemplary understanding of improvement science, applicable business requirements to support the business strategies, strategic vision and goals of the System. Supervises departmental personnel who support system-wide clinical and operational improvement activity, compliant data collection, appropriate data mining and use of clinical data and improvement analytics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:
1 Manages a system-wide approach to the collection; analysis and reporting of all publicly reported data / information.
2 Participates in defining information system strategy in support of clinical data management strategies
3 Assigns and supervises activities of clinical data abstraction and analysis team. Coaches and assists others in the utilization of data collection and analysis tools; oversees the reporting of all clinical compliance measures including, but not limited to, The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) measures, STS, ACC, GWTG and other external registries.
4 Coordinate with Service Lines/ Departments for clinical and operational improvement projects. Provides direct support for clinical effectiveness activities including coaching /teaching operational definitions, methodologies/tools for data collection, analytic support and general preparation of clinical effectiveness project leaders in improvement science.
5 Oversees the data management and analysis employing effective statistical methodologies most appropriate for gauging progress/success toward strategic objective goals / project goals.
6 Develops comparisons of clinical performance / outcome measures results to benchmark, identifying trends, completing barrier analysis and supporting system leadership to identify activities to reach performance goals.
7 Understands data structure modeling and applies that knowledge to generate solution for customers, as required.
8 Monitors system activities, resolves problems, develops new methodologies, and acts as interface with entities, departments and Service Lines in developing solutions to problems and improvement support with subsequent follow up.
9 Plans and coordinates implementation of data collection and management systems, including completion of workflow analysis and establishment of benchmarks for determining successful completion of project(s), as needed.
