We are recruiting for a Statistician to provide data mining and statistical support for the Operations business function, (Quality Assurance, Lean Six Sigma, and Production Facilities) as well as providing support to the implementation of insights and research programs that influence projects supported by the Operations group. This professional will also support the development, management, and analysis of company databases for department data mining efforts and provide analytical support to other functional areas as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs statistical analysis in support of winery OGSM's.

Utilizes existing winery data to answer corporate objectives.

Reviews data and helps management to understand opportunities found within data. Performs needed analysis to realize those opportunities for the business.

Provides statistical training to other winery departments.

Performs data mining for organization in project specific areas; generates summaries that are useful to all levels of management in both business and technical areas.

Performs analytical tasks in support of department eldership.

Trains internal staff members on basic statistics, statistical process control, design of experiments, and statistical analysis software.

Conducts full statistical analysis, interpretation and creation of reports.

Manages portions of larger projects.

Performs advanced statistical analysis including complex regression modeling and data mining, including survival analysis, mixed models, and various non-parametric tests.

Maintains knowledge of statistical process control techniques, sampling plans used in operating processes, and Green/Black Belt techniques.

Conducts applications testing to ensure data integrity.

Conducts statistical analysis using DOE's (factorial designs) and multivariate methods (PCA) to support research projects. Interprets results to ensure integrity of the analysis.

Develops and documents internal work processes to increase department efficiencies.

Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.

Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

Job Requirements: REQUIREMENTS

Ph.D. in Statistics plus 2 years of applied statistics experience in an industrial or production environment OR Master's Degree in Statistics plus 4 years of applied statistics experience in an industrial or production environment.

Lean Six Sigma or Black Belt training.

Database modeling or programming experience.

Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Experience writing speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

Experience effectively presenting information to top management, public groups, or boards of directors.

Knowledge of Production systems such as MES and LIMS.

Skilled in the use of MS Excel at an advanced level, MS Access at an intermediate level, MS PowerPoint and MSWord at a basic level; experience using statistical software (Minitab, Infinity QS and SPSS or SAS).

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Skilled in applying principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.

Skilled working with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.

Experience with applying principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

Experience with dealing with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.

Experience with dealing with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
