The Analyst will work closely with marketers, traders, risk managers, project developers, and quantitative analysts to analyze complex market structures, develop new high margin products, design viable hedging strategies for portfolio management, perform financial analysis required for project finance, and develop quantitative analysis models required in forecasting, option valuation, and capital budgeting.

The Analyst is expected to directly participate with Regional Marketers on external customer calls in order to understand and address customer needs with transaction structures. The expectation is to value complex market structures such as tolls (physical and financial), load following transactions, unit contingent generation, locational spreads, etc.

The Analyst will interact with senior management to assure that pricing, hedging and risk evaluation techniques applied to potential Marketing transactions are based on solid methodologies approved and monitored by ER&T and Corporate Risk Management. Interact with ER&T Generation Portfolio Managers to develop new hedging products that enhance earnings for the regional portfolios. The Analyst is expected to provide project finance support for development projects. In addition, the expectation is to work with other quantitative analysts in the development of in-house mathematical models as required.

Basic Qualifications:
Graduate degree in a quantitative field. At least two years’ experience in quantitative analysis.

Required Competencies:
Candidate must possess analytical and problem-solving skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, be results oriented, creative and innovative, be a team player, show leadership and decision-making abilities. Must be conversant with state-of-the-art statistical techniques, option theory, and capital budgeting (e.g., NPV). Ability to analyze markets and develop new financial products for hedging or sale to the market participants. Ability to perform at sustained high energy and performance level and generate innovative and creative ideas/concepts. Hands on programming skills in VBA, SPlus or similar quantitative software. Very good familiarity with Excel. Experience in energy markets (power/gas) is highly desirable.
