We have an incredible opportunity for an R&D Engineer III – Electrical to work with our innovative R&D team in Pleasanton, CA. on projects that include the development of a fully magnetically levitated motor and a wireless power transmission system for implanted heart pumps.

The R&D Engineer III - Electrical will play a key role in the development of leading edge implanted medical devices for the treatment of heart failure. You will be part of a talented and experienced team designing, analyzing and testing power and embedded control electronics for implanted heart pumps.

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Designing and analyzing analog, digital, and microcontroller circuitry for implanted heart pumps.

Specifying, designing, constructing, and executing tests for electronic circuits and systems.

Providing accurate scheduling for, timely execution of, and attention to detail in all assigned tasks.

Performing root cause analysis of system and circuit level problems.

Representing the R&D electrical engineering group in cross-functional activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

3-5 years of electrical engineering product development experience with embedded controls.

Experience developing embedded controls in a cross-functional team environment.

Electronic hardware and firmware design and project engineering experience.

Competence in the use of laboratory instrumentation including DVMs, impedance meters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.

Additional Qualifications:
FDA regulated medical device experience preferred.

Soldering and breadboarding skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to write clear technical descriptions of rationales, designs, observations, conclusions, and implementation instructions.

NI hardware and LabView programming experience.

MatLab experience
