Summary: The Registered Nurse holds shift accountability to provide direct care to the patients by utilization of the Nursing Process in accordance with the established policies and procedures of WestCare Health System. Maintains clinical competencies through continuing education. Delegates patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of other staff.

The duties described herein are minimum standards and may be modified to meet the changing needs of the patient and WestCare Health System at any time.

Education: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Nursing.

License/Certifications: Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina . Current BLS certification within 3 months of hire and maintain thereafter.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move at least 65 pounds. Ability to see colors, see at least 1 mm squares. Ability to hear and distinguish heart, lung, and bowel sounds. Ability to reach overhead. Ability to remain calm, continue to function effectively and develop priorities during stressful situations. Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal media. Ab ility to move an operate equipment and carry supplies. Ability to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.

Working Environment: Potential exposure to patients who may be physically or verbally abusive. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials. This position may require the use of personal protective equipment during several patient and equipment related activities. Occasionally exposed to noise and unpleasant odors. Often works long hours, participates in the call schedule which requires working during the evening and night hours as required.
