Provides direct care and assistance in activities of daily living to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with facility policies and procedures. Assists residents with dressing, bathing, toileting, oral care, transferring and transporting, eating and nutrition. Provides residents with comfort, assurance and emotional support and serves as the primary contacts with resident family members and visitors.
High School diploma or G.E.D.
No past experience required.
An STNA must posses a current certification as issued by the state the facility is doing business in.
Must be able to speak, read and understand English, follow written and verbal directions and be able to write legibly.
Have a positive attitude toward the elderly.
Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds frequently, and occasionally bear weight of 100 pounds or more. Requires constant physical activities including standing, walking, lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, stretching, turning, grasping and reaching. Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, thoroughness and quality of work assigned. Aural acuity to receive detailed information through oral communication, often from persons with speech impairment. Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word, often with residents with hearing impairments.
