Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.
LOCATION: Z.J. Loussac Public Library 3600 Denali St. Anchorage
HOURS OF WORK : 40 hours a week; Schedule varies from 9:00am - 9:00pm Monday through Thursday and 9:00am - 6:00pm Friday through Sunday.
Example of Duties:
Provide reference and readers' advisory service to the public in person, over the phone, or electronically. Instruct the public on resources including the library's online catalog, databases, the internet and print sources. Directly supervise professional and/or paraprofessional library staff. Select and weed library materials in broad subject areas including media which comprises, but is not limited to, DVDs audiobooks (both physical and downloadable), ebooks and music CDs. Design and implement programs for the public and staff. Participate in professional activities such as conference attendance and outready to community organizations. Participate in activities which support the library's mission and core services.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Special Qualifications:
Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited school and two years of professional library experience, one year of which is at the supervisory level or working in an area of subject or technical specialty.
Additional appropriate education may substitute for part of the specific experience requirement.
If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Background Check. A Background Check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.
