Job Description-Overview : The Office of Student Affairs assists all 800 students in the predoctoral and postdoctoral program on their path towards graduation. The office administers the university-based student information system, maintains student records, provides licensure information, and career related information. The office administers disability services, coordinates student activities and organizations and oversees support services that students seek while enrolled in the dental program. These services include, but are not limited to, promoting the professional and personal development of each student, serving as a clearinghouse for housing information and career postings, providing access to student records, managing student enrollment and registration process, issuing official transcripts, coordinating accommodations for students with a disability recognized by the Americans Disabilities Act, and fostering student leadership.
The Registrar for the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine:
Oversees all functions and activities of the Registrar's Office including management of student academic records, registration, grading, performing enrollment projections and analyzing trends, degree tracking, enrollment verification, graduation certification, FERPA compliance, production of transcripts and diplomas, and other all other areas of enrollment management. Works in a highly interdependent and collaborative manner with the Admissions, Financial Aid, Academic Affairs, International Affairs, Alumni relations & the Dean's Office. Ensures the integrity and confidentiality of academic records; manages the student information system, and trains student services staff in data reporting and management. Serves in ex-officio capacity on the Student Promotions Committee and assists members of the Division of Student Affairs in coordinating Orientation, the Clinical Advancement Ceremony, and Commencement related activities.
Job Description - Requirements :Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree with at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. The candidate must have proficiency with MS Office, thorough knowledge of student registration procedures, computerized student information systems, and must demonstrate excellent analytical, managerial, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills. Competitive candidates must show the ability to work effectively with diverse group of administrators, faculty, staff, and students, and must possess excellent judgment and ability to problem solve. The job requires the ability to foster a cooperative work environment, to formulate policy and develop an implement new strategies and procedures, to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions, to maintain confidentiality of records and information, and to supervise and train employees. Candidates should be knowledgeable about best practices related to the work of a registrar and FERPA and other relevant federal and state policies and requirements, and they must have the capability to develop, plan and implement short and long range goals.Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. with or without accommodation.
Master's degree is preferred as is knowledge of rules, regulations and laws regarding student records and enrollment. Registrar experience in graduate or professional school setting is a plus as are a history of effective public speaking and presentation skills. In addition, competitive candidates should be enthusiastic, motivated and able to work with multiple constituencies - professional and graduate students, faculty, and staff on multiple campuses and at affiliated institutions.
