Responsibilities will include managing and implementing the objectives identified in the Florida Certification Outreach and Secondary Wood Industry Directory Projects.
Work with project partners to develop uniform secondary mill terminology, and database format for collecting information for inclusion in the directory. We will rely on existing examples in building a common directory format. The ideas will be further refined through exchange of information via phone and email.
Collect data on secondary wood product mills operating in Florida. A combination of sources and specific methods will be used ranging from Internet searches, checking old published state directories, industry-published or paid subscription directories, followed with email and phone contacts to verify the information for inclusion into the new directory.
Research information, develop brochures and power point presentations. Contact forest certification programs and other workshop partners and develop agendas. Obtain bids for printing brochures and associated materials. Select and contact potential workshop locations and make arrangements. Select presenters including from forest certification programs, if available; finalize agendas, presentations and arrangements at workshop locations.
Conduct workshops for resource professionals and foresters, non-industrial private forest landowners, loggers and legislators.
Writing extension documents, and other supporting materials.
Collecting data and reporting to support projects
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
