RESEARCH SCIENTIST II(Job Number: 1304748)
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and conducting cell-based assays for the evaluation of antibodies and small molecule agents in the areas of immunology and inflammation. This position requires knowledge of cellular immunology and extensive experience with functional cell-based assays such as T-cell proliferation and differentiation, B cell and monocyte/macrophage responses, cytokine measurements, FACS, and receptor binding and occupancy using appropriate biochemical and pharmacological techniques. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and possess the quantitative skills sufficient to develop, execute, interpret and troubleshoot in vitro cell-based and biochemical assays. Flexibility, ability to organize tasks efficiently, and a willingness to work as a member of larger, cross-functional teams are essential.
Scientist with a BS or MS in the areas of Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of postgraduate working experience is required. Previous pharmaceutical/biotech research experience and familiarity with small molecule and/or antibody drug discovery would be advantages but not a requirement. The ideal candidate will have experience with primary cell assays and ex vivo functional cell-based assays such as cytokine measurement, cell phenotyping, and receptor binding and occupancy assays using appropriate biochemical techniques. Extensive experience with aseptic isolation and long term tissue culture of rodent and human primary cells is also a requirement. Good communications skills and abilities to interact well with scientific colleagues and work effectively in a team-oriented environment are essential.
