Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
This position is being recruited for at the Journey Competency Level under the Career Banding Program. The hiring range for this position is $36,000-$47,000 and the salary grade equivalent is 70.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position will serve as a laboratory manager for the Dittmer Lab. The position will conduct experiments using microbiology and molecular biology skills, knowledge, and robotic equipment. The position will provide oversight of technical programs and administrative activities of the lab, establish and maintain quality assurance and safety programs, manage equipment and supplies, monitor environmental risks (BSL-2, 3) and quality control/quality assurance. The position will comply with safety standards to maintain a safe environment. ESSENTIAL SKILLS: It is critical that candidates have experience with work in a laboratory environment. Candidates must possess the theoretical knowledge for the molecular biological and microbiological approaches used in the laboratory's research. Candidates must be able to project plan, conduct procedures, and provide comprehensive data collection and analysis. Candidates must be able to establish quality assurance and safety programs, as well as be able to multi-task and keep multiple projects and research goals on task. Candidates must have the ability to clearly compile and present information verbally and in written form to students, customers, vendors and support staff. Candidates must have demonstrated skills in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Candidates must have attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
Department prefers individuals who have worked in a Macintosh environment.
